CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER
Dear Prairie Guards & Friends of Mount Mitchell,
Due to muddy trail conditions at the Park the 13th Annual Mitchell Farm & Prairie Celebration has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for this fall.
If it’s not raining there will still be a wildflower walk. Our intrepid docents will lead walks at 9 am on the recently graveled mile-long McDonald Family Trail and the hard surface ADA compliant Underground Railroad Trail. Both are accessible from the Park’s main entrance at 29000 Mt. Mitchell Road. This year’s butter-fly milkweed bloom is outstanding.
Park rules request that visitors not walk on muddy trails, which causes erosion. It’s the Prairie Guards’ intention to eventually gravel all the Park’s trails prone to erosion. This is a very expensive proposition, so please remember us with your charitable giving, especially during the Alma Match Day on August 25th and the Wamego Match Day October 1-3.
Come enjoy Mount Mitchell when it dries out!
Sincerely, Michael Stubbs, for the Mount Mitchell Prairie Guards Board,
Michelle Crisler, Bruce Waugh, Christy Crenshaw, Dr. Brian Peterson, Christian Bishop, John Hund, Susan Adams, Cindy Jeffrey, Kate Mitchell Buster, Julie Mitchell, and Susan Hartwich
